The MHTC supports the Government's decision to reopen the country's international border to medical tourists.

This serves as a positive indicator for the economy in Malaysia as it represents a big turnaround for the travel sector, he said.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said that the special Cabinet meeting held on 17 June had agreed to open the international border of the country to the health tourists.

"As patient and visitor safety remain our topmost priority, this permission is further subjected to the approved stringent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

"These SOPs include, but are not limited to, healthcare travelers registering with MHTC before traveling here for treatment. More information regarding these SOPs will be made available to the public once details have been finalized," MHTC said in a statement.

MHTC said this is a testament to the trust and confidence in our robust healthcare system, substantiating Malaysia's recognition as the "World's Healthcare Marvel".

"Our country's strong foundation in pandemic preparedness has earned us global recognition, particularly from the World Health Organisation (WHO).

"As the nation unites to recover from these trying times, MHTC will continue to showcase Malaysia's healthcare capabilities and strengths as a world-class quality healthcare destination by paving the way for more innovative industry service offerings.
