MALAYSIA:

The well-known online travel and lodging service Airbnb has stated that it will no longer allow members to host events and parties at their homes. According to a statement released by Airbnb yesterday, the ban, which was initially temporary because of the Covid-19 outbreak, has been made permanent because it has become incredibly popular with hosts.

Users who want to host gatherings or parties must now reserve "speciality and conventional hospitality venues" using the app, according to the statement that the restriction has evolved into "far more than a public health measure" since it went into effect in August 2020. Over 6600 visitors have had their access to the app banned since the prohibition was implemented.

In the same announcement, Airbnb also announced that it is lifting the cap on how many guests any of its listings may hold simultaneously. The platform went on to explain that lifting the cap was intended to let those hosts use their houses properly while still abiding by its ban on noisy gatherings.
