Cathay Pacific resumes flights from Penang International Airport

Cathay Pacific has resumed its flight services between Penang and Hong Kong starting from 1 December 2022. This was announced together with Penang Global Tourism at Penang International Airport, as we welcomed CX633 from Hong Kong with a scheduled arrival time.Flights between Penang and Hong Kong will operate three times weekly from 1 December 2022

YAB Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, graced the occasion at a ribbon-cutting ceremony, accompanied by YB Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy; Mr Lee Sheung Yuen, Acting Director-General of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office; Mr Ool Chok Yan, CEO of Penang Global Tourism; and Mr Dominic Perret, Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia and Southwest Pacific, Cathay Pacific.

The resumption of scheduled services will provide Penang travellers with direct access to Hong Kong, in addition to onward connections to popular destinations such as New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Toronto, Paris and Amsterdam.
These can be booked via the Cathay Pacific website.

Flight Schedule
Starting today, Cathay Pacific will operate CX634 and CX633 between Penang and Hong Kong on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, on the Airbus A330-300.

Prior to the pandemic, Cathay Pacific was operating daily flights between Penang and Hong Kong. These were suspended in 2019 due to the sharp decline in passenger travel.

We will continue to add back more flights as quickly as is feasible to Penang and other destinations across Southeast Asia to strengthen our connectivity from the region to Hong Kong and the rest of the world."

Penang EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Yeoh Soon Hin said: "This resumption of flights between Penang and Hong Kong by Cathay Pacific is undoubtedly good news. The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office also attended the event to celebrate the resumed flight connectivity with Penang, marking another important milestone towards consolidating Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub and fostering multifaceted exchanges between the two cities.
