Malaysia’s Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing, has unveiled the “Malaysia: Truly Asia” high-speed train in Qingdao, China—a groundbreaking initiative to promote Malaysian tourism across the nation. The train, wrapped in vibrant visuals of Malaysia’s diverse attractions and culture, serves as a “moving invitation” for Chinese nationals to discover the wonders of Malaysia.
This strategic collaboration, supported by China Hongqiao International Investment Co., Ltd. and Hongqiao International Cultural and Sports (Hainan) Co., Ltd., marks a significant milestone in Malaysia-China tourism relations. Each carriage showcases iconic Malaysian destinations, from the historical streets of Malacca and Penang to the urban landmarks of Kuala Lumpur and the natural beauty of the country’s tropical landscapes.
Tiong expressed heartfelt gratitude to the partners involved, highlighting the campaign’s potential to inspire more Chinese travellers to explore Malaysia’s rich heritage, culinary delights, and scenic wonders. The initiative also reflects the long-standing friendship between Malaysia and China, from the era of Zheng He to the modern-day Belt and Road Initiative.
This campaign aligns with Malaysia’s efforts to boost tourism in anticipation of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
