Golf Tourism the new boost for VM2020

World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC) finals are about to take place from Oct 19 to 26 this year of 2019. It is said to be one of the most prestigious amateur golf tournaments in the world, organised by Delta Trend Golf & Leisure Holidays, the official partner and licensee for Malaysia.  Four golf courses in  Sabah will be in the spotlight during this year’s WAGC finals in the state later this year.

The competition will see 4 prominent golf clubs hosting the finals and they are the Sutera Harbour Marina Golf & Country Club, Sabah Golf & Country Club, Dalit Bay Golf & Country Club and Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai. All golfers participating in the event will represent their countries after winning the national tournaments in their respective countries.

They are organising the qualifying rounds and national tournaments in Malaysia for the eighth consecutive year, and the WAGC finals in Malaysia for three consecutive years since 2017. Malaysian teams were crowned world champions in 2012 and 2015, and twice as second runner-up in 2016 and 2018. For the year 2017 and 2018, Vietnam was the Team Champion and they have high chances of striking a hat-trick this year as well.

He added, “We welcome the competing teams to Malaysia and look forward to winning them over with our Malaysian hospitality, charm, and beautiful golf destinations,”.

The event is supported by Tourism Malaysia and other government agencies and is sponsored by Perodua. The WAGC in a way also offers a great opportunity for amateur golfers, golf courses, suppliers and corporations to rally together, helping to promote the game and the destination at the same time. Also spreading goodwill among national and international golf communities.

Next year, It is said that Mexico will host the championships and Delta Trend will be sending a national team to represent Malaysia over there.
