INDONESIA:

Apart from enjoyment, Indonesian tourists anticipate returning to Malaysia to visit family and for medical care.

This was found during Tourism Malaysia's four-day survey during the Association of Air Ticketing Companies in Indonesia (Astindo'Astindo )'s Hybrid Travel Fair,' which concluded today in Jakarta.

Tourists are missing out on the main tourist destinations in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, and Genting Highlands, according to Tourism Malaysia's director of marketing in Jakarta, Niko Johan Tanosa.

They were motivated to travel to Malaysia by news stories about the country's border gates opening.

"We have highlighted that Malaysia has not yet fully opened its borders," Niko stated. Tourists, on the other hand, can travel to Malaysia via the Langkawi International Travel Bubble program."

Since its inception on November 15, 2021, the program has attracted 6,000 travellers from various nations, including 175 tourists from Indonesia.

In 2019, 3.6 million Indonesian tourists visited Malaysia before the Covid-19 epidemic.

In anticipation of Malaysia reopening its borders to tourism, Niko stated the fifth Virtual Travel Mart Roadshow series would be held in Bandung.

The roadshow has previously taken place in Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Jakarta, and Batam, bringing together Malaysian and Indonesian travel companies for the hybrid marketing of holiday packages.
