MALAYSIA:

The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) 2020, which was supposed to take place next month at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec), will now be held from June 30 to July 3.

MIFF 2020 organizer Informa Markets said the decision was made after careful consideration and consultation with stakeholders over uncertainties pertaining to the Covid-19 outbreak, with some countries and companies have issued travel advisories and restrictions.

“In light of the constantly evolving situation, we have taken the difficult decision to reschedule the event.

“We appreciate the international buyers who had looked forward to attending the show from March 6 to 9 and hope to have their continued support to attend on the new date, ” said MIFF founder and chairman Datuk Dr Tan Chin Huat.

Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Khani Daud said, “The Covid-19 situation in Malaysia is under control. We have been adhering to precautions and safety measures recommended by the World Health Organisation.

“We understand the MIFF organizer’s decision to reschedule the show due to the impact on international travels and other commercial considerations.

“It is my sincere hope that the delegates will benefit from the event and take the opportunity to experience Malaysia in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2020.”
