JOHAR:

While crossing the border to Johar Bahru which is famous for its long queues just to clear the customs, many people prefer to avoid the causeway unless and until they travel by car. It requires a lot of patience to cross the causeway wasting hours on endless waiting. According to the recent news, soon there will be an end to all the endless waiting with the introduction of the new Johor-Singapore 24-hour taxi service which was recently launched on Oct 15 of this year.

The new taxi service will ferry passengers from KTM Berhad Museum which is just a minute's walk from Johor Bahru City Square as per the Google Maps. As of now, 30 taxis are stationed every day to make trips into Singapore and upon an increase in demand more taxis will be activated. The new service will drop passengers off at Ban San Street Terminal in Singapore.

The first day and second day of operation saw 13 and 21 passengers respectively. The price per trip costs RM100 per taxi which works out to be about RM20 ($8.30) per person if shared. The fee is quite reasonable to pay for keeping convenience and comfort in mind. There’s an expectation of a gradual increase in passengers as the taxi service gains more publicity.

The taxis will be popular amongst the masses as people wouldn’t have to go through the custom while traveling by taxi and save an ample amount of time, to say the least. If you want to take a licensed taxi from the terminal to anywhere in Singapore, you will need to use a Singaporean taxi and pay at least $70 for the service.
