Laos begins to prepare for ASEAN Tourism Forum 2024

The annual Asian Tourist Forum, which will be held in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, from January 22–27, 2024, is being prepared for by the country's tourist officials.

According to Lao News Agency, Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Suanesavanh Vignaket stated at a meeting last Friday (May 12) to discuss preparations for the event that the forum's topic will be "Quality and Responsible Tourism -- Sustaining Asian Future."

According to Suanesavanh, the forum will feature a tourism exhibition and promote travel and additional service development in related industries.

The ASEAN Tourism Forum was previously held in Laos in 2004 and 2013.
The potential of Laos as a location for ecotourism is being promoted by the government.

The South-East Asian nation has welcomed a large number of foreign visitors who came to learn more about local customs and lifestyles as well as picturesque sights.

More than 831,000 foreign tourists visited Laos in the first three months of 2023, as opposed to just 211,898 foreign travelers in the first half of 2022 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
