MALAYSIA:

The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair, which will be held from March 17 to 19, is still supported by Tourism Malaysia to increase the number of foreign tourists to Malaysia and encourage domestic tourism.

The Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec), Kuala Lumpur, will host the show, while the Tourism Malaysia Pavilion will occupy 46 booths on the first floor (Level 1) of the event.

States Tourism Organizations (STOs) from Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Sarawak, and Sabah are also participating in the MATTA Fair in March 2023, demonstrating how aggressively the states are promoting their domestic tourism products.

"Malaysia anticipates 15.6 million tourist arrivals and RM47.6 billion in revenue in 2023.

According to Rocky Kho, chairman of the organizing committee for the MATTA Fair in March 2023, "Tourism Malaysia is stepping up their promotional efforts by participating in the largest consumer fair to attract more tourists and showcase exciting local destinations through our diversity of culture and heritage."

According to Kho, "MATTA Fair's relationship with Tourism Malaysia is considered a crucial source of economic growth, serving as a stimulus for travel industry expansion and remaining one of the major contributors to the national account.

Similarly to that, he added, "Tourism Malaysia's participation opens up more chances to market Malaysia as a top-of-mind travel destination because our nation has a lot more to offer.

"This year, Tourism Malaysia is returning with a 'Nature and Adventure' theme, and we expect generating sales of RM1.5 million," he continued. "The fair gives wonderful opportunity for consumers to find holiday packages and theme park admission tickets at competitive prices."

Up to 46 booths from all states will be on display in the Tourism Malaysia Pavilion, which will also host some events like quizzes and guitar performances.

With the purchase of travel packages costing RM500 and higher, guests will have the chance to redeem Tourism Malaysia items.

The "Inilah Masanya, Cuti-Cuti Malaysia" campaign, which encourages Malaysians to travel locally and support the domestic tourist industry, is in line with this fair.

According to Datuk Zainuddin Abdul Wahab, director-general of Tourism Malaysia, "Tourism Malaysia seeks to encourage increased tourism activities throughout various states in Malaysia and contribute to local economic growth."

In the future, this partnership between MATTA Fair and Tourism Malaysia will result in better results that will help the industry advertise and restore tourism to its pre-pandemic levels.

The fair is open every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Friday through Sunday and is free to enter.

KL Sentral and Sunway Putra Mall will both offer shuttle services to Mitec.
