According to Ipoh City Council (MBI) mayor Datuk Rumaizi Bahrain, 500,000 foreign tourists are expected to visit the capital city of Perak by the end of this year as part of Visit Ipoh Year 2023.

Given that by last April, about 50,000 foreign tourists had visited the city, a 10-fold increase from before the Covid-19 epidemic period, he said it is hoped that the aim may be met.

"There were only around 4,600 foreign visitors to Ipoh before the outbreak. After attending the 40th "Tourism Promotion Organisation for Asian - Pacific Cities (TPO) Executive Committee, Regional Meeting, and Joint Promotion Presentation" here yesterday (May 11), he told reporters, "I am confident that more tourists would visit Ipoh by the end of this year.

After the inaugural meeting in 2015, this one is being held in Ipoh for the second time.
