Melia Phuket Mai Khao, Thailand opens this month

Melia Hotels International is delighted to announce the opening of Meliá Phuket Mai Khao this month. The resort, sitting on eight acres of Phuket’s northwestern coastline overlooking the cerulean Andaman Sea, opened its doors last 18 November 2021.

Fronting Phuket’s longest stretch of sand, Melia Phuket Mai Khao is close to the beautiful Sirinat National Park, the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, and the outstanding Wat Phra Thong temple.

The striking new property features a collection of details to create a relaxing at restorative atmosphere, from saltwater swimming pools, private villa pools, and a reflection pond with sunken seating areas, to water gardens, vertical falls, and irrigation misting. The resort’s overarching design pays tribute to contemporary aesthetics combined with traditional Thai touches.

The beachfront property offers sumptuous suites and luxurious wellness-inspired pool villas for families and couples alike to experience elite stays in a tropical setting, filled with an abundance of facilities. The modern, light-filled, and spacious Mediterranean-inspired suites and villas each feature outdoor bathtubs, open-air showers and vast outdoor terraces, enabling guests to truly take in the surrounding nature.

Guests are invited to relax in with private cabanas or private plunge pools, whilst those staying in the portfolio of ‘Wellness Villas’ can indulge in an open-air Vitamin C shower, daily massages, ultrasonic essential oil diffuser, GermGuardian air purifier, Tempur-Pedic pillows, yoga fit ball and mat, and more.

Meliá Phuket Mai Khao offers a diverse culinary landscape from four outlets located within the resort. Guests will be able to enjoy Mediterranean and fusion cuisine at the chic Gaia Beach Club, where they will be able to sit poolside in cabanas and sun loungers whilst sipping delectable cocktails. Elegant all-day dining restaurant Sasa specialises in Southeast Asian cuisine with Mediterranean flair, and in in an intimate setting adorned with timber finishes, where guest will be offered casual fine dining by night, Elyxr Café serves light meals and snacks, freshly squeezed juices and locally brewed liquors.

Shaded by a broad spectrum of native plants, the resort’s design deploys a neutral palette of colours as a complement to Mai Khao’s sandy shore, creating a bright environment where high ceilings, floor-to-roof glass panels, and decorative metal screens blend harmoniously with the surroundings and take advantage of the natural light.

Wellness seekers will be able to take advantage of the resort’s signature YHI Spa, home to five luxurious treatment rooms. In addition to its extensive menu of massages, facials, body scrubs and wraps, spa therapists also provide poolside and in-villa treatments. Meliá Phuket Mai Khao’s modern fitness centre is equipped with the latest fitness machines and the kids club Kidsdom, with workshops for the young guests.

An idyllic venue for weddings and events, Meliá Phuket Mai Khao boasts a grand ballroom and two additional multifunction rooms; the resort’s event planners also offer customized catering and mini mindfulness sessions.

Meliá Phuket Mai Khao’s debut follows the island’s reopening to international travellers as part of the Phuket Sandbox implemented by the Thai authorities from 1st July. Under the programme, fully vaccinated travellers from 68 countries who provide a negative COVID-19 test shortly before their arrival are offered quarantine-free entry to Phuket.

Launched by Meliá Hotels International and owned by Thailand’s leading residential real estate developer Phuket Villa Group, the five-star resort is part of a roll-out of the Meliá brand in key destinations across Thailand including Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
