In its very first Michelin Star Revelation 2023 gourmet recognition award ceremony hosted by the Michelin Guide, a number of Malaysian eateries finally received the recognition they deserved from the prestigious food guide
Picking from the crème de la crème of food in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, the Michelin Guide has selected 97 restaurants to make their debut in the award ceremony held on Tuesday, 13 December.

Out of the 97 eateries, four restaurants were awarded one Michelin star; two from Kuala Lumpur and two from Penang.

These four restaurants are the very first four eateries in Malaysia to receive a highly-coveted Michelin star. Here are the winners of the prestigious award:

Kuala Lumpur:
1. DC. by Darren Chin
2. Dewakan

Penang:
1. Au Jardin
2. Auntie Gaik Lean's Old School Eatery

Aside from the Michelin star winners, 32 other Malaysian eateries have also received the equally prestigious Bib Gourmand award

Although not awarded either a Michelin star or Bib Gourmand, undercover food critics have painstakingly toured Kuala Lumpur and Penang and have selected 49 other Malaysian eateries to add to the Michelin Guide.

Some notable restaurants you might be familiar with are Sri Nirwana Maju, Nam Heong Chicken Rice, Air Itam Sister Curry Mee, and Bibik's Kitchen.
