The Tourism, Arts, and Culture Ministry (Motac) is hoping that domestic tourism activity will retrieve after the government considered allowing interstate travel in the fourth phase of the National Recovery Plan, which is set to begin in November.

According to Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri (pix), the low number of Covid-19 cases, the public health system being at a safe level, and the achievement of herd immunity were all factors.

She added Motac had suggested to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) that vaccination be introduced in stages, with 30,530 people in various tourism sub-sectors authorised to work during MCO 3.0.

“This is important because the workforce in the tourism sector needs to work together with all Malaysians to have the immunity against the Covid-19 virus,“ she said in a statement.

Nancy said that Motac has also taken the initiative to offer relevant ministry premises or assets for use as vaccination centres (PPV) in order to speed up the vaccination process.

The Craft Complex, the National Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) complexes, and Hotel Seri Malaysia are among the facilities.
