Perlis domestic tourism sector shows positive signs of recovery

The Perlis domestic tourism sector is recovering as a result of recent new attractions under the concept of natural beauty that the State has recorded an increase in tourist arrivals.

State Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man said that tourism in the state has begun to grow positively despite the pandemic of COVID-19 affecting national and global tourism.

“In Perlis, we use existing tourism products with several improvements, also, providing new attractions such as camping sites at Taman Eko Rimba Bukit Air, Tanah Tinggi  Wang Kelian, Tasik Timah Tasoh, and Bukit Jernih,” he said.

He said the facilities were made available to nature lovers to enjoy the natural beauty of the state.

“There are some tourists who do not like to put up at hotels, instead they prefer to do camping activities in the jungles and we in Perlis prepare camping sites with facilities such as electricity, clean water, bathrooms, and others,” he added.

The response received at the campsite at Taman Eko Rimba according to Azlan was highly encouraging since it was fully reserved until March 2021.

He added that "Taman Anggur Perlis" (Perlis Vineyard) had also become "Taman Eksotik Perlis" one of the state's new attractions.

“We still maintain the existing grape plants and added several near-extinct and rare plants such as the Kangar tree, Nam-Nam, Jambu Keling, Jarak Kandi, and others as the new attractions to the new generations,” he said.
