SARAWAK:

A total of 1,000 Grab Malaysia drivers have completed the Sarawak Ambassadors E-learning for E-hailing Drivers programme.

Last Friday, the Sarawak Tourism Board presented awards to 220 drivers out of 1,000 who received a perfect score of 100 percent.
In partnership with Grab Malaysia (GRAB), the one-of-a-kind Sarawak Ambassadors Programme on E-learning for E-hailing Drivers was started in October last year and is expected to reach 5,000 Grab drivers in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri.

It is part of STB's ongoing efforts to create awareness and boost Sarawak's tourism industry by grooming drivers to become Sarawak Tourism Ambassadors by broadening their understanding of Sarawak as a tourist destination. Since the program's inception, 2,183 Grab drivers have completed the tourist training courses.

Grab Malaysia's 'Axonify,' an e-learning platform under the Grab Academy, was used to teach drivers online. SATT College is facilitating the e-learning modules for the southern, central, and northern regions of Sarawak. The modules are accessible in three languages: English, Malay, and Mandarin.

“Tourist is an inclusive industry, and we want more people, not just a handful, to be tourism ambassadors ready to greet our visitors once the borders reopen. That is when the entire sector will flourish, rather than just a few individuals. Sharzede predicted that the multiplier impact will be considerably better.

Other programmes to assist the local tourist sector, such as the intra-state Sia Sitok Sarawak campaign, Sarawak Tourism Online Ecosystem Fund, and Visitors Incentive Package (VIP) incentives, have been launched by STB to further improve the tourism ecosystem.
