SHANGHAI:

According to the city's designated working committee for local epidemic prevention and control on Sunday, Shanghai officials have removed the COVID-19 test requirement for transportation and outdoor public places.

The new policy eliminates the requirement that Shanghai citizens have negative COVID-19 test results before using public transportation, including the subway, buses, and ferries.

It will be also applied to outdoor public places such as parks and scenic spots. Before the announcement of the policy, the city demanded a successful COVID-19 exam within 72 hours of utilizing the streets or public transportation.

The regulation will go into force on Monday.

The municipality also stated that it will continue to modify COVID-19 measures following the local environment, and it advised residents to heed existing health recommendations including using masks, avoiding close contact with others, and receiving vaccines to protect themselves from the virus.
