MALAYSIA:

SNCF Voyageurs, a French rail operator, has teamed up with aviation technology company SITA to integrate back-office operations with partner airlines.

SITA has enhanced its API-based application, which allows airlines and rail operators to provide train and rail services to clients.

The improved system streamlines the check-in process at 20 train stations that offer a 'Train + Air' service.

It also allows SNCF Voyageurs to receive and communicate passenger data from and to partner airlines, such as confirmation that a passenger has boarded and is on their way.

"As we observe a strong rail and air travel rebound, SITA has been key in offering a user-friendly and swiftly deployable solution ensuring a smooth experience across SNCF and our airline partners," said Christophe Pouille, Train + Air product manager at SNCF Voyageurs. Because of its simplicity, our agents can provide a more pleasant travel experience."

"Increasingly, travelers are demanding a more digitally connected journey where each stage of the journey - whether by the airline, train, or ship – is seamlessly linked," said Sergio Colella, SITA President for Europe.

Swiss International Airlines stated earlier this month that it would extend its relationship with SBB Swiss Federal Railways to provide an air-rail connection between Zurich Airport and Munich's major railway station.
