PENANG:

In the region of South-East Asia, PENANG continues to be a significant center for medical tourism.

Chow Kon Yeow, the chief minister of Penang, expressed his happiness at the state's medical tourism industry's expansion.

When a group from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and University College Dublin (UCD) visited him in his office in Komtar, he stated this to them.

According to Chow, Island Hospital's new wing in Lebuhraya Peel was inaugurated this year.

It's important to remember that there are around six companies in the state that deal with medical equipment.

As Penang is our specialty market, we hope to encourage medical tourism there, the man stated.

Initiatives to advance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and strategies to increase medical tourism were discussed at the summit.

RCSI's chief executive officer, Prof. Cathal Kelly, was in charge of the delegation from RCSI and UCD.

They were impressed by the state's vision and dedication to promoting medical travel.

Prof. Kelly expressed optimism for increased participation in the future.
