TERENGGANU:

After obtaining an allocation in the 2021 budget, the Terengganu cultural village will have the opportunity to operate better and to diversify art activities.

Through the allocation, the department will empower the management and infrastructure aspects of delivery and the cultural village in Terengganu so that a new tourism destination can be developed within the state said Terengganu State Tourism Department director,Mohd Huzairil Nizam Ibrahaim.

If the village has been visited by 24,853 previously (Sept 3 - 4 October), it may not be difficult to draw additional tourists with a range of programmes, since it was only operating for one month.

"Through the feedback of tourists, they greatly admire the lifestyle of the traditional community in Terengganu in the past - which is famous as a maritime community - including food, equipment, artistic heritage, and culture.

"Subsequently, we will further refine the strategy of organizing activities and promotions so that this Terengganu Cultural Village becomes a 'mandatory destination' for tourists who come to the state," he said.

The Government has announced RM 20 million in order to boost the infrastructure of cultural villages in Terengganu, Melaka, Sarawak, and Negeri Sembilan in the 2021 budget last Friday.

In addition, he said in order to improve the infrastructure of Kampung Budaya Terengganu, his party would provide a more tourist-friendly environment.
