MALAYSIA:

The Pacific Asia Travel Association's PATA Gold Awards were held this year, and three of the 23 Gold Award categories, including Travel Photograph, Travel Video, and Culture, were handed to Tourism Malaysia.

The captivating photo image of a guy flying a wau, Malaysia's traditional kite, by the coast of Terengganu, won the Travel Photograph Gold Award. Flying a wau captures one of the Malaysian culture's most recognizable icons and is an important piece of the nation's cultural history.

An unforgettable and awe-inspiring experience would be to see a wau's creation and watch it soar through the air, which is another goal of the award-winning photograph. In Kelantan and Terengganu, especially during harvest season, it is usual to see people flying kites even in modern times.

In contrast, the Sarawak Tourism Board deservedly won two Gold Awards in the areas of Travel Video and Culture. The state's commercial video, "A Journey Awaits," by Faithworks Studios, which showcases the state's alluring beauty, history, legacy, and natural wonders, earned the Travel Video Gold Award. The Sarawak Tourism Board's virtual rendition of the 2021 Rainforest World Music Festival, which offered music fans a chance to attend the festival from the comfort of their homes during the pandemic, also took home the Culture Gold Award. The festival presented Sarawak's traditional music and culture on a virtual, open-to-all festival with no entrance cost.
