Tourism Malaysia’s participation in the recent 10th Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) Da Nang 2022, from 9 to 11 December 2022, ended with a bang with The Most Attractive Booth awarded at the closing ceremony.

Organised by the Vietnam Society of Travel Agents (VISTA), the event was attended by more than 165 international buyers, 12,000 public visitors, and 65 media partners, with over 10,000 tour packagers and low-cost air tickets offered to the visitors.

Ms Zalina Ahmad, Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia’s International Promotion Division (ASEAN), headed Malaysia’s delegation to the VITM Da Nang 2022 consisting of the state tourism body, namely Tourism Johor, alongside KPJ Hospital Johor, Pinetree Marina Resort, Boustead Hotels & Resorts, Wynn Travel, HTC Travel & Services, GIT Tours and Air Asia Vietnam.

The main objective was to promote Malaysia as one of the top holiday destinations for the Vietnamese market, besides fostering close cooperation with the travel trade partners in boosting tourist arrivals to Malaysia. Hence, a series of seminars for selected tour operators and destination presentations were also conducted in Da Nang and Hue.

Vietnam has been one of Malaysia’s primary markets and contributes significantly to the annual tourist arrivals to Malaysia. In 2019, the number of tourist arrivals from Vietnam was 400,346 with an increase of 6.6% in comparison to 2018 which was 375,578. The increase in tourist arrivals from Vietnam to Malaysia in 2019 contributed RM 1.5 billion to Malaysia's tourist receipts.
