MALAYSIA:

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, Datuk Sari Nancy Shukri has revealed that India is interested in turning Malaysia into a destination of choice for weddings. She further elaborated that wedding planners from abroad could see the uniqueness of our country, especially Perlis as a venue for weddings. Nancy said that the state of Perlis, which is blessed with beautiful natural vistas is capable of attracting tourists and couples from India to hold their wedding ceremonies there. These include green lush rice fields, waterfalls and more.

The Tourism Minister asserted, “For instance, it (the wedding ceremony) could be performed at the rice fields, waterfalls or at other tourist attractions that are capable of attracting them here,”. “This time we would like to introduce eco-tourism areas to those wanting to conduct their weddings so that they can also appreciate the beauty of nature in the country, especially in Perlis,”

Nancy was speaking to reporters yesterday after officiating the 2022 East Winds@Hybrid Festival at Kangar, Perlis together with the state’s Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Azlan Man.

Meanwhile, Azlan also said that the unique natural environment in the state could be suitable for filming locations, especially in India. The Perlis Menteri Besar further revealed that for the past 3 to 4 years, the state has been the focus of filming locations by Indian film production teams.

Moreover, Azlan hoped that more foreign filmmakers will be interested in making Perlis their shooting location of choice. In fact, the state government hopes that the federal government would help promote Perlis for filming.
