MALAYSIA:

From July 1 to December 31, 2021, the Tourism, Arts, and Culture Ministry (Motac) has extended the exemption period for license renewal fees as well as extra licenses for tourism businesses and tourist guides who applied for renewal.

According to a statement released by Motac, this is one of the steps aimed at easing the burden on tourism industry operators affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ministry also stated that tourism operators and tourist guides who have yet to acquire approval for license renewal due to the movement control order would be excluded from paying the charge (MCO).

Tourism operators and tourist guides that have received clearance for license renewal but have been unable to make the payment owing to the MCO are also eligible for a fee waiver.

“With the extension of the program, the ministry hopes that eligible tourism operators and tour guides will take advantage of the opportunity to apply for renewal within the stipulated period,” according to the statement.

To maintain conformity with existing legislation, Motac also urged all tourism companies and tour guides to renew their licenses within the specified timeframe.
