Tourists can explore Pangkalan river through a new traditional boat

Tourists who come to the state must try another new adventure by exploring the Pengkalan Datu River aboard a traditional boat that is the pride of the people of Kelantan.

The six-kilometer which is nearly hour-long experience of exploring the river begins at the Pengkalan Datu Floating Market Jetty and visitors are taken to interesting places.

“The interesting locations include the placement of Chinese houses, Ar-Rahman Mosque of Elephant Island and Nami Island, Bachok.

"At the same time, we will also highlight local community activities such as harvesting nira nut, collecting locals and looking at the freshwater fish habitat, the tracking trout," said Pengkalan Datu River Watershed Association chairman Mohd Asri Husin here today.

He said the service had been introduced by the company for the past three months and was a good sign of support for Visit Malaysia Year 2020 and Visit Malaysia Year 2020.

"So far only a boat and a fiber boat have been used which can accommodate 15 to 25 passengers while the fiber boat can carry three to five passengers at a time and the number of boats will increase depending on demand," he said.

He said the fees charged for the service were only RM10 per person and they operate every Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm.

“For now, we are only focusing on operations on Saturday, as the day will also be a floating market that is the focus of many. If there is a request the other day we will do it based on the reservation, ”he said.
