Vietnam is planning to have over 30 airports by 2030, in a bid to boost tourism and trade. The country currently has 22 airports, but the government believes that the country needs more airports to support its growing aviation industry.
The government has set a target of having 14 international airports and 16 domestic airports by 2030.
The investment for this plan is estimated at about 420 trillion VND (18 billion USD), which will be mobilized from the State budget, non-budget capital and other legal capital sources.
The government has already started to implement this plan. In 2021, the government approved the construction of the Long Thanh International Airport, which is expected to be completed in 2025.
The government is also planning to upgrade and expand a number of existing airports, including Noi Bai International Airport, Tan Son Nhat International Airport, and Cam Ranh International Airport.
The national plan to expand to a capacity of over 30 airports by 2030 is also a sign of the country’s commitment to developing its aviation industry.
The government believes that the aviation industry will play a key role in Vietnam’s overall economic development.
